Pre-K/Head Start & Kinder Enrollment at Whitehouse ISD

Pre-K & Kindergarten Registration

Registration for the 2026-2027 school year opens April 1, 2026. If your child is already enrolled in Pre-K at WISD, they will automatically be enrolled in Kindergarten.

Step 1: Determine Eligibility

Program options:

  • Qualified Pre-K (Free): Child must be four years old by September 1 and meet at least one of the eligibility criteria listed below.
  • Tuiton-Based Pre-K: For children who don’t qualify for state-funded Pre-K. Seats are limited. Child must be four years old by September 1.
  • Kindergarten: Child must be five years old by September 1.

Step 2: Complete the Online Registration

Starting April 1st, online registration is open for all incoming Pre-K students or new Kinder students.

  • Complete the online registration.
  • Upload required documents, listed below.
  • You’ll receive an email confirming your registration and letting you know if additional steps are needed.

Step 3: In-Person Eligibility Verification

All Qualified Pre-K registrants must attend an in-person meeting for eligibility verification. Bring all uploaded documents on one of the following days and times:

Tuesday, April 7th 2:00pm – 6:00pm
OR
Wednesday, April 8th 9:00am – 2:00pm

Step 4: Campus Tour Event

All registered Pre-K and Kinder students are invited to attend their Campus Tour Event on April 16th from 4:00pm – 6:00pm.

  • Child must be four years old by September 1, and meet one or more of the following specific criteria to qualify:

    • Eligibility for free and reduced lunch program 
    • Eligibility for the English as a Second Language Program
    • Be designated as homeless
    • Be a foster child or have ever been under the care of CPS
    • Child of Active-Duty Military/Armed Forces
    • Child of Military/Armed Forces, who was injured or killed while on active duty
    • Child of a parent this is eligible for the Texas Star Award
    • SNAP or TANF eligibility group number and/or Medicaid Eligibility (if applicable) 
    • Child of a full-time district employee

    If your child does not qualify in any of the listed areas above, paid Pre-K is open to all Whitehouse residents space permitting. *see information below

  • ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS must be uploaded during the Online Registration Process. For Qualified Pre-K, eligibility doucmentation must be verified at an in-person meeting

    Required documents for all new students:

    • Birth Certificate
    • Child’s Social Security Card
    • Immunization Record
    • CURRENT Utility Bill (Electric, Gas, or Water only) OR Rental/Lease Agreement (with all residents listed) OR property tax statement
    • Parent ID (i.e. Driver's license or State ID)

     

    Additional required documents for Pre-K:

    Foster Care Verification Letter of Prekindergarten Eligibility from DFPS
    Limited English Proficiency Assessment Scheduled During Registration

    • Prior year’s tax return or W-2
    • Child’s current medical and dental exam
    • Proof of health insurance, if applicable
       
  • Once enrolled in WISD’s Prekindergarten programs, students must comply with Whitehouse attendance policies.

  • Whitehouse ISD offers tuition-based Pre-K for children who turn four years old on or before September 1 of the school year. Enrollment is based on available seats and requires a $150 deposit to hold your child’s spot.


    The tuition-based Pre-K program follows the district calendar and is $5,000 per year, paid in 10 monthly installments of $500.
